Riku and King Mickey are first seen in the Dark World looking for Aqua. Riku and Mickey return to Yen Sid's tower to report their status to Yen Sid as well as Sora, Donald and Goofy. Riku thinks that Aqua is the key to finding the 3 missing Keyblade wielders and Yen Sid tells the duo that Aqua visited many worlds during her journey and suggest following her footsteps to find some clues. Yen Sid also gives Riku and Mickey new Keyblades as well as new clothes to deliver to Kairi and Lea in the secret forest. Even though Riku tries to defend himself against the Demon Tower again and Aqua, he begins to fall but Sora makes his way to the Dark Margin from the Destiny Islands and saves Riku and fights against the darkness corrupted Aqua. After Sora manages to defeat Aqua, she starts to fall into the realm of darkness but Sora brought her back to the realm of light, reuniting Aqua with Riku, Mickey, Donald and Goofy. When Sora, Donald, Goofy, Riku, Mickey, Aqua, Ventus, Axel, and Kairi all return to Yen Sid, they are debriefed about their ensuing battle with Xehanort that is quickly approaching and the Destiny Island trio all return to the Destiny Islands. While on the Destiny Islands, Riku talks to his replica in his heart, and they both come to terms with the replica being around in his heart, but he says that he has "one last thing to do." When everyone makes their way over to the Keyblade Graveyard to begin their final showdown with the Organization, a possessed Terra summons a swarm of heartless that swallows all of the keyblade wielders. With all of the heroes swallowed, Sora begins to break down crying out that his friends were his power and without them he has nothing, but Riku protects him from the swarm saying that he knows that Sora doesn't truly believe that before he and Sora are both swallowed by the swarm. Riku's heart ends up in Olympus with a Lich heartless trying to prevent Sora from saving Riku's heart but Sora manages to defeat the Lich in every world that he has visited, saving all of his friends one by one. With everyone returned to moments before their defeat, all of the keyblade wielders stand to face the organization once and for all. Riku and Sora both face off against Dark Riku, Xigbar, and Ansem and manage to defeat each of them. When Dark Riku is defeated, Riku's replica in his heart leaves his body and truly defeats the Dark Riku and leaves the replica's body for Riku to use for Namine, even though Riku says that his replica should take the vessel and be his own person. When Sora and Riku both defeat Xigbar, Xigbar tells the pair that the only reason that he followed Xehanort's plan was because he promised Xigbar his keyblade if they won, to which Sora and Riku claim that a keyblade would never choose Xigbar but Xigbar tells them that he was worthy of wielding a keyblade, before teleporting to a nearby cliff and falling to his apparent death. RIku, Sora, and Mickey then go to fight Xehanort but they are stopped by Ansem, Xemnas, and Young Xehanort to which they all defeat. WHen Ansem is defeated, he talks to Riku one last time before fading away, talking about the relationship he and Riku have had this whole time. Riku actually tells Ansem that he will miss him. When Xehanort brings out Kairi and destroys her body in front of Sora, Riku tries in vain to try and attack Xehanort along with Mickey, but they are both knocked away very easily and Xehanort summons Kingdom Hearts. With things looking grim, Riku gives the idea to use Xehanort's body as a time portal that Sora could use to trap Xehanort and stop him once and for all. When Sora manages to defeat Xehanort once and for all, Riku and the other keyblade wielders all make their way to Daybreak Town's clock tower and help Sora seal Kingdom Hearts one final time and they all return to the Keyblade Graveyard. WHile int he Keyblade Graveyard, Sora wants to use the power of waking one final time to try and rescue Kairi, which Mickey strongly suggests otherwise saying that he may not being to return if he tries to use the power of waking again. Riku manages to tell Mickey to let Sora go since he knows that Sora's heart and mind are already set on doing this. After Sora goes and rescues Kairi, Riku goes to Radiant Garden to go to Namine and offers her a hand. With everyone all together now on Destiny Islands, they play on the beach and look over towards Sora and Kairi, but Sora fades away, meaning that he may have saved Kairi but paid a price for it. | ||
