==Origin==
Flying reindeer have always been tied with Santa Claus. It is believed that Santa Claus rides his sleigh pulled by seven reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and sometimes a eighth reindeer, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The idea of the flying reindeer are believed to originate from the 1823 poem, ''A Visit from St. Nicholas''.
In ''The Nightmare Before Christmas'', Jack's skeletal reindeer take him around world to deliver presents, but they are shot down along with his sleigh by the military.
