As am I. Hmm...I think Removed content in the Kingdom Hearts series might make the cut.
Well then, allow [another] staff member to appear. Terribly sorry for the late response, guys. Yes, this is only a staff thing (unless there's been a change made during my inactivity)...anywho, if you guys notice that the staff hasn't voted/selected a featured article for the next month, tell them! Kryten, Neumannz, Maggosh, ENX, and now, TNE are on numerous times of the week be it on here or on the IRC. Inactive staff such as myself, Kate, and the others do occasionally check in here once in a while. Regardless of when we appear or not, you guys can always ping us on our talkpage or on the IRC (heck, even the Facebook/Twitter pages would work) about it.

Onto the vote! I second Maggosh's nomination for Removed content in the Kingdom Hearts series.--Xion4ever 20:34, December 14, 2010 (UTC)

Well, it's official then. :D maggosh 22:14, December 14, 2010 (UTC)

Well, seeing as nobody's made any suggestions for November, I'll put in my own nomination; Another side, Another story.... Now, taking DTN's concern last month into consideration - "not completely consistent with the format of our other [game] articles" - I took the initiative to ensure Another Side's article matches the format of our other secret ending articles; I'll admit there was some degree of difficulty as the article supports more than one of them. I do believe a secret ending hasn't been nominated before, so why not do something different? Thank you for your consideration.

October 2010Edit

I see that Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep was chosen as the featured article. My commentary on this would be as follows:

BIG MISTAKE

The article is still very messy and is not completely consistent with the format of our other game articles. Also, whoever nominated and supported this seemed to forget that all featured articles should follow the manual of style, be written well, and not have any maintenance issues. You can see a missing <ref></ref> tag in the bottom of the page, was that not obvious enough?

But I digress. 100 Acre Wood is the only quality article that comes to mind right now for October.

EDIT: This is not to be taken offensively, but just to remind all of the staffers that an article should be thoroughly inspected before being nominated, and not to just nominate an article because it fits into the time frame. Thanks!

Eternal Nothingness XIII - This heart belongs again to darkness. All worlds begin in darkness, and all so end. The heart is no different. Darkness sprouts within it—it grows, consumes it. Such is its nature. In the end, every heart returns to the darkness whence it came.
TALK - Your body submits, your heart succumbs—so why does your mind resist? — 19:16, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
The only reason you think 100 Acre Wood is such a masterpiece is because YOU revised it, DTN. That's not a fair enough judgment/reason to nominate an article. Birth by Sleep was elected to sort of tie-in to the wiki's theme and also encourage users to edit the article, as well as articles based on it with the new information the English adaptions revealed.

I'd say, in the spirit of Halloween being in October, the stereotypical thing to do would be nominate a Halloween-based article, so we at least acknowledge it in some way, even though switching to a temporary Halloween theme is completely pointless. So I'd like to nominate Halloween Town, simply on the grounds that it's based on the best stop-motion film of all time, has appeared in almost every game, has a great storyline, and makes the Heartless encountered there look totally awesome! Granted it could still use some work, that can all be changed in time.

In response, ENX, 100 Acre Wood is in full accordance with our Manual of Style. An article should be "perfect" before it is posted on the main page, not after. Then it is no better than the Cleanup of the Month, and defeats the entire purpose of Feaured Article. You'll also notice that BebopKate approved of the article beforehand, complimenting its high quality.

I'm going to leave the Featured Article as is until we come to a consensus.

ENX, the point of a Featured Article is that it is already the best it can be or pretty close, not that it needs improvement or fits a theme. If it needs improvement, it should be fixed before it is nominated. If it's something to encourage improvement, then we have the Improvement section for those needs.

DTN, 100 Acre Wood is very good indeed, but it's hardly a consensus with one or two people. We need more input here.

Given the direction of where this is going, I'm going to flat out say I'm not going to be the sole decision maker here. I want to hear from other staff members. We've got them and we need more input from them as well. We'll delay the vote until Monday to make a final decision.

Gummi Ship was indeed the selection for August, my only issue was finding an appropriate image of reasonable quality. Hopefully we will receive blueprint images of the Gummi Ships soon.

It has been a while since we have featured a world article, I think the last one was Traverse Town. I'm still not too sure about featuring a world from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, due to our spoiler policy, but perhaps a world the former games would suffice, maybe even something that could tie into Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep without being spoilerific. Any suggestions?

  Regarding world ideas...

Castle Oblivion- Aqua creating Castle Oblivion from the darkened Land of Depature.

Radiant Garden- Meh, it's in KH II and BBS.

Olympus Coliseum- Same reasoning as Radiant Garden.

If it's worlds not pertaining to BBS in anyway, I'm up for anything. The Inexistent proposed The Land of Dragons previously..

I think the Land of Dragons is the most complete of those suggested at this point.

Part of the problem with using the BBS worlds is that they're technically not finished until we get the release here, since I'm sure bits will change, and, as Xion mentioned, the spoiler issues. Besides, Land of Dragons is a nice example of an article for a world that has so far appeared in a single game.

Hola, señors y señoritas. I have a bit of news for us that might change our plans. Even though we all know that Room Core should have been the featured media for September, it looks like we are going to be putting up some art of the Land of Departure. I'm still hoping that everyone spontaneously changes their vote to the much superior Room Core, but in the event that doesn't happen, we may want to reconsider putting Land of Departure up as the Featured Article. Personally, I'm not sure how good or non-rigged it would look to have our featured media and Featured Article correspond with each other. At the same time, it might be nice, since Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is just around the corner. Hooray!

Anyway, I did a long, drastic cleanup of 100 Acre Wood yesterday that should make it a model article. Plus, it's whimsical. If we find that we need to change our decision for Featured Article, I think this would be the way to go.

Hasta luego, ciao.

TALK - What I do, I do for friendship. — 20:56, September 1, 2010 (UTC)
Not sure what we've decided, but I think we should feature the actual BBS article. For two reasons:
  • We've never featured a game article before
  • Comes out September 7th, and many other obvious reasons

Not sure what verdict we've reached, but this is, to me, the best choice.

I'm not keen on Land of Departure for two reasons:
  1. The game's not out yet here. Stuff will change, the page will probably be slammed with edits after the English version is released. It's in a bit of an unstable position to be called feature yet.
  2. It's awfully, um, small. There's just not a lot of anything on it. I know that it's one world in one game, so that does limit how big it can be, but...it just doesn't scream feature-worthy. Yet.

Now 100 Acre Wood...good grief, DTN. That's a thing of beauty. That's how a good world article should look. Granted, it's got multiple games to support it, but it's also well-organized, nicely annotated, and bursting with info. I'm all about the Pooh.

Ah yes, so you did. Sorry, it's been a long day at work.

I would be fine with Birth by Sleep as a featured article. I don't think there's quite as much to change there as there would be in something world or character related.

Well, we, as a wiki, like to vote. The Mirage Arena is a great example of that, and I have to say featured media has exceeded everyone's expectations, methinks.

We've improved in quality overall since we stopped featured articles, and even more so since we've re-added them as staff only. I think we have a lot more wiki members who know what quality means and are willing to help and polish something so it's at its best.

Therefore, I would like to propose, in December, (for the January article, natch), we return featured articles to the hands of all the editors. I do think we should use the same system as featured media (restrained categories), as that has worked very well in producing a wide range of winners, and perhaps borrow and modify a couple of guidelines from FF Wiki's procedures, such as so many nominees before voting starts. If need be, we can re-tool things as we go along to make it work more smoothly, but I think this is a step we should take.

What say you, fellow staffers? Viva la editors! (Don't hit me, TroisNyx. ^_^)

Sorry for the late response, my life is crazier than usual...Anywho, I'm all for this idea. My main concerns are the usual: controversy which begets user bashing/arguments over a petty/trivial matter. Keep those contained (no scandals, excessive arguments) and I'm a happy person. Nice idea, Kate.
