Name[edit]

Shouldn't this aticle called Scar's Heartless? I mean both Sora and Xehanort's Heartless both had Heartless's in the end. Scar becomes a Heartless and it retained its formed like Xehanort and Sora. Scar's Heartless is diffrent from a regular Heartless. --Cococrash11 02:36, February 2, 2010 (UTC)Cococrash11

Hmm... valid point. However, Xehanort's Heartless is called that to distinguish from the regular Xehanort, and Sora's Heartless forthe same reason. There isn't a boss battle with the normal Scar, so there isn't a need to disinguish the two. It's a good point though. I'm not really sure myself.--Lapis ofthe Night 02:47, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

It can mean no regualr Scar battle just a Scar's Heartless Battle. --Cococrash11 03:14, February 2, 2010 (UTC)Cococrash11

Hmm... Like I said, I'm kind of torn on this. Perhaps you should ask for a second opinion?--Lapis ofthe Night 03:31, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
Except that the journal and guides just call him "Scar". We don't make up names here.Glorious CHAOS! 04:27, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
The journal also mentions The Ghost of Scar, but never Scar's Heartless. ★ Joyeux Wikiversaire ! ★ 11:34, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

That was Scar's Ghost. I'm just saying he become a Heartless and he retained his will and etc intact like Xehanort's Heartless and Sora's Heartless. I don't really care about the name I just want people to be aware of this fact or atleast think about it. --Cococrash11 02:56, February 22, 2010 (UTC)Cococrash11

He became a Heartless, but there is no actual thing we can pinpoint and call Scar's Heartless. Look at Clayton, for example. He was a Heartless by the time the boss battle began. But still, the Journal refers to him as Clayton, never Clayton's Heartless. TROISNYX Symbol - Bell.png AMDG 03:11, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think Clayton ever becomes a Heartless I think he just merge with a Heartless instead. --Cococrash11 03:23, February 22, 2010 (UTC)Cococrash1

No, Tarzan explicitly says (Heart !) Not Clayton ! implying that Clayton actually did lose his heart. TROISNYX Symbol - Bell.png AMDG 03:27, February 22, 2010 (UTC).

Optional boss[edit]

How come Scar is not considered an optional boss? You can defeat Xemnas without facing him. Why does he not have the optional boss template?(Bananaphone1996 00:04, August 28, 2010 (UTC))

I don't recall him being optional. You have to beat every character in order to progress in the story. The only optional things in KH2 are the Jiminy objectives, Atlantica, and 100 Acre Wood, to my memory. I don't recall anything being optional in KH, either, but people were able to skip Monstro. - Challenge Sigil KHD.pngEternal Nothingness XIIIChallenge Sigil KHD.png 00:06, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

It says in the Pride Lands trivia the player can defeat Xemnas without entering the pride lands. Wouldn't that make everything in the Pride Lands optional.(Bananaphone1996 00:11, August 28, 2010 (UTC))

But in order to complete the Pride Lands, Scar must be fought, so no, he's not optional. maggosh 00:17, August 28, 2010 (UTC)
So how do we define "optional"? Ursula and the other skippable bosses are on the nav template for the same reason Scar could be considered optional.
Really, we shouldn't even categorize stuff as "optional bosses". It's too open to interpretation, and becomes useless.Glorious CHAOS! 04:08, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

Scar as a Heartless?[edit]

Pete says that Scar was reborn as a Heartless. However, the boss fight is categorized as a "somebody" in both of the guides, and the journal doesn't mention it at all. Furthermore, Scar has none of the defining attributes of the Heartless (yellow eyes, nature as either a stolen heart or as manifest darkness).

  1. Does the original cutscene in Japanese mention that Scar "is a Heartless"?
  2. Do we care? Do we take Pete's quote as overruling the other sources?

"We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 01:41, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

The guide shouldn't be considered a valid source, they've made countless mistakes, as we all know. Chitalian8 02:24, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

As is my custom, I ask: What does the Ultimania say?
Here's the KH2FM scene [1] --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 23:07, December 25, 2010 (UTC)
As I said, both the Bradygames and Ultimania guides call Scar a somebody."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 02:41, December 26, 2010 (UTC)
Arg, Pete says "That king...~~...has become a Heartless" in the Japanese version, too."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 02:44, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the only explanation I can give would be speculation, but considering the situation, I would prefer to leave him as a Somebody. --Neumannz, The Dark Falcon 03:43, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

But shouldn't the game be more canon as you would see it happening? Also maybe the reason why the Brady Games guide and Ultimania mistook him for a somebody is that Scar is a Disney character which is unlikely to become a Heartless, or the authors forgot what Pete said. Anyway, it would probably be better to play the game than to read guides. So I think Scar should be categorized as Heartless as he was one when he fought Sora. SeanWheeler 02:46, December 28, 2010 (UTC)
But the game does not unequivocally say he is a Heartless. He is not included in the Heartless section, the story summaries don't mention it, nada. Only Pete calls him a Heartless."We're werewolves, not swearwolves." (KrytenKoro) 04:22, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Back on the subject[edit]

If the wiki can classify the Spirit of the Magic Mirror as an Unversed, then the wiki should classify Scar as a Heartless. I'm mostly neutral on it, and I'd rather keep the page the way it is, but it's just a suggestion. UxieLover1994 07:29, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
