Ventus appears as a mini-boss in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep at the Land of Departure. He is fought twice in the tutorial episode, using Terra and then Aqua—once to teach guarding and countering, and then again as a practice free-for-all.

Strategy

Attacks
  • Standard Combo: Attacks Aqua/Terra with quick slashes (normally one slash, but if not blocked or dodged, can become a 7-hit combo).
  • Strike Raid: Hurls his Keyblade at Aqua/Terra (can hit twice).
  • Aero: Surrounds himself with gusts of wind that pull Aqua/Terra in before sending them flying while dealing damage (this is close ranged).
  • Sliding Dash: Launches himself at Aqua/Terra, Keyblade first (he only uses this command at a distance).

Though he is one of the easiest bosses in the game, Ventus is arguably the most difficult of the three tutorial bosses; the difficulty mainly presenting itself in the form of having to use Aqua for this battle.

His attacks consist of quick weak slashes which can form a powerful seven-hit combo if they are not parried/dodged. Whether at a distance or nearby, Ventus may use his Strike Raid command. Strike Raid can hit twice and deals a large amount of damage. Use Cartwheel to dodge this and Ventus will be open for an attack. He will also make use of his Sliding Dash and Aero commands, which are less of a threat but should still be avoided. Countering Aero with Blizzard works well and leaves Ventus open to Aqua's standard combo or close range commands.
