Would you love to have more publicity for your wiki? Well, now is your chance to get on Wikia's mainpage! All you have to do is tell us why your wiki is great here. Be sure to include how you use the latest Wikia features, what makes your wiki unique and why your community is one of the best!

TALK - Parley!
If you've been on the wiki today then you would have seen the above message on your talk page. Now this wiki is awesome so we need to show everyone. If we get featured on Wikia Central main page then we get a medal. We need to leave a message. So what should we say?

I say Yes.--ZACH 20:21, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

OPXion4EverIcon.png We've made Central Wikia spotlight twice, why not go for this? ^_^ We could collect user opinions on why the community is the best, why the wiki is unique, etc. on this forum page and let the staff review everything and send it to central wikia. Be it a staff member sends the message or not, we only need one person sending the message right? No need to spam Central Wikia with hundreds of messages saying "Kingdom Hearts Wiki is amazing! blah blah" However, should a staff member send the message I want to encourage that all user messages be considered, not just comments from users on the community list, staff members, etc. All of us are a wiki family, no one is better than the other. Earlier on the IRC a user said: "I'm not that an important user they would probably ignore mine, they would listen if you did it?" I want to stress to everyone that we are all the same. No one user is better than the other. There may be some differences in wiki-status, but that does not mean one user is better than the other. We are all users simply here to edit about a video game we love.

But I digress, I'm all for at least attempting this idea. Should we decide to send a message I propose we create appropriate sections on this forum for what will be mentioned in the message: Why this wiki is great, how we use the latest Wikia features, what makes our wiki unique, and why our community is one of the best. To make it easier for the compiled message, I say we hold off listing our reasons why in the discussion section and wait until we have the separate sections up. Any objections?

KrytenKoro - Most bears were content to live their lives, mauling and eating one, maybe two humans at most. "Mass-murder," as the bears always said, "is for the sharks." But not Barry. Barry was different. He knew that one day, he would kill ALL of the humans. This is the inspiring, tear-jerking story of one bear and the dream he dared to dream.
TALK -
I'm not trying to say our wiki is bad or anything, but:
  1. We don't use the latest wikia features. We actually regularly send messages to central to get them disabled, or recode the css ourselves to get around it.
  2. To be brutally honest, our wiki is not unique. It's comprehensive, sure, but I could point you at several others wiki's that are just as dedicated. It has no gimmick or "theme", like the tfwiki, for example, which injects humor into it's writing.
  3. To be further brutally honest, our community is normal people. If we go for this, this would be the thing to play up, though, since our community is full of many active, enthusiastic editors. Still, normal people.

Basically, we are an extremely competent wiki, in my estimation, but there's nothing "unique" about us. We just do our job well - and honestly, that's good enough for me. Gimmicks are overrated.

FA icon.png Too late, guys. Here's my comment on that blog entry :

Alright, my two cents :

The Kingdom Hearts Wiki has been providing more official information than any other Kingdom Hearts database would ever provide. Now with 1913 articles, we take our games seriously, and the minutest detail is considered important. Precision is our way to go, and we make sure we’re precise in every bit of information, from stats to strategies to story information to journal entries, right down to the renders.

Mainspace aside, we have really cool templates and user-friendly stuff for our user space ! We also get in the know of the latest developments in KH before most sites actually do (with our Kingdom Hearts Wiki:Trinity Report). And to top it all up, we are THE English-language database to refer to for Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix-related articles, while these games only saw a Japanese release.

And last but not least, Square + Disney = epic win. : )

Take it as a capricious shot at a two week spot. We don't use their features very much, but Angela and Uberfuzzy have been around long enough to notice that we're doing well without those features of theirs. So what if we don't win, for the pessimists around ? We get higher recognition by those who want to emulate us ! Higher traffic ! We land a place among the stars !

I say we go for it !

I'm as good as new! All my functions have been restored! TroisNyxÉtienne — 02:11, June 26, 2010 (UTC)
