OPXion4EverIcon.png Xion appears yet again to discuss the addition of information.

So, as marked on this month's Roundtable, there is a question of incorporating tutorials/transcripts from in-game to the database. Our current method has been to create Ansem's Computer forums. That's it. The information just sits there. Just now on the IRC FM and I were talking about this. Below is the conversation.

[20:46] <+Xion4ever> As for this -> http://www.khwiki.com/index.php?title=Forum:Notes_27,_%28KHII,_Gummi_Tutorial_Logs%29_-_Xion4ever&t=20140513030425
[20:46] <+Xion4ever> I can't remember if the discussion is on mine or Neumannz's talkpage...either way,
[20:47] <+Xion4ever> I think we mentioned about adding it to a proper mechanics section on a Gummi article.
[20:48] <+Xion4ever> Found it. -> http://www.khwiki.com/User_talk:Neumannz#User:Xion4ever.2FAdvice_Log
[20:48] <FifteenthMember> Most of the Gummi articles need reworking anyway
[20:48] <FifteenthMember> Like the ships
[20:49] <+Xion4ever> Project Gummi is a whole other beast.
[20:51] <FifteenthMember> Xion, that discussion doesn't say how to incorporate the transcripts into the mainspace
[20:52] <+Xion4ever> "would be redundant to a (thorough) Mechanics section on a main Gummi Ship article, but it should still be included, possibly as a hidden section? Maybe for now it should be a separate article with a Merge template?"
[20:52] <+Xion4ever> In short, mine are basically pointless with a thorough mechanics section.
[20:53] <+Xion4ever> We do not have a page just for tutorials so the second option of a separate article w/ merge template is knocked out as well.
[20:54] <FifteenthMember> However, transcripts straight from the game are incredibly valuable to the people who want them
[20:54] <FifteenthMember> I'm wondering if we could preserve them somehow
[20:54] <FifteenthMember> (and yes, I know people who care about transcripts)
[20:54] <+Xion4ever> @ FM: Should we create a transcripts page?
[20:55] <FifteenthMember> Individual ones?
[20:55] <+Xion4ever> This should probably be discussed on a forum.
[20:55] <+Xion4ever> Anyways, no. I'm thinking either a huge Tutorials article or List of Tutorials (Kingdom Hearts), etc.
[20:55] <FifteenthMember> My plan was we create sub-articles (e.g. "Gummi Missions/Battle Tip Transcripts")
[20:56] <FifteenthMember> Tutorials probably do need to be covered
[20:56] <FifteenthMember> They have an entire section in the menu in some games
[20:56] <FifteenthMember> And are there in the Momentos for KH3D
[20:56] <FifteenthMember> They're similar to Reports
[20:56] <+Xion4ever> Hmm...
[20:56] <+Xion4ever> I say forum discussion.

So, here we are. Should we have [a] tutorial article(s)? If so, how would they be named and grouped? I think the information is worth having, but I do not know how we can implement them to the mainspace.

TheFifteenthMember Yes. You're creepy. I can't say we'll miss you while you're gone, so it'd be best if you did go. We all win that way. TheFifteenthMember 14:18, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
First, we should find out what the Tutorial screens are called in each game. I'm not sure if KH, COM and KHII record their tutorials, but Re:coded and BBS have a tutorial section in the pause menu (we need to check the exact names) and the Momentos in KH3D also has all the tutorial screens. With games that don't keep a full record of tutorials, I'm not sure we should give them their own pages and split whatever tips/transcripts we do have between the various gameplay and minigame articles.

Re:coded, BbS and KH3D should have a tutorial page as joining them all together would create an article far too long. To note, the Re:coded tutorials are already split into multiple categories in-game so it'd be easier to model that page. Another thing we could do to make the tutorial pages more wholesome is include unlock requirements for each tutorial (e.g. "Obtain Glide"). We'll need to do some more researching here, though, possibly a new project.

EDIT: I've started this and I'm doing Re:coded.
