TheFifteenthMember Yes. You're creepy. I can't say we'll miss you while you're gone, so it'd be best if you did go. We all win that way. TheFifteenthMember 20:03, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
Today, it's been argued that the monthly roundtable should be disbanded due to a lack of activity over the last few months. The problems are:
  • Lack of users, due to busy schedules and what-not. Some users on different timezones are immediately cut off from discussion and few admins attend roundtables. Often, roundtables must be cancelled or postponed.
  • Even when roundtables occur, little is decided as we must often need to concur with the wider wiki or the people present do not have any opinion on the particular topic (while absent members do).

Instead of the roundtable, we want to go back to a forum focus, where issues are posted and solved in a natural flow. Rather than piling it all up to discuss once a month, they can be posted as they arise. Every user will have time to articulate responses in a more flexible way, where they can respond at any empty time in their schedule. Another benefit is more activity will occur on the recent changes, making the wiki more appealing to newcomers and visitors, who'll hopefully see more bustling activity. If an IRC meeting is needed for a sensitive or private topic matter, they can always be organised as the need calls for it.

What does everyone think of this? (To note, the people present who discussed this on the IRC were KSM, TheSilentHero, Riku and me.)

TALK - One day, the light-it will be ours, and it will bring us together. Til then, I'll be in your heart...
I also agree on the idea! I never participated in the roundtables because I could never make it, but if using the forums would be more effective and allows more user to see the flow of the discussions and read others' opinions.

TheFifteenthMember I like white. I find it goes well with yellow, but only if you want it to. TheFifteenthMember 17:04, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your post! And what are thoughts from some other people? Regardless, I'm creating the threads for the current agenda topics since it's too late to host this month's one anyway.

TheSilentHero Good thing I'm here. No? Anyone?! — 17:41, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
One concern I got with the forums is that forums sometimes never reach a conclusion. A few months ago there were a couple of forums about changing things, but instead of reaching a conclusion, people stopped responding and the forums died. Is there anyway to prevent this?

TheFifteenthMember Myes, but THEY didn't know that! We have to consider THEM! And yet we must also be mysterious, myes, myes... TheFifteenthMember 15:56, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
To be honest, that happens a lot during roundtables too, where there's 15 minutes of silence and then someone eventually goes and wraps it up. Personally, if a forum I created becomes dead, I try to either revive it or if it's in a near-conclusive state, I take the silence as acceptance and judge the outcome myself.

FA icon.png For some reason, I kinda think what goes on in the usual Roundtable could be brought up in the World that Never Was section of the forum. It allows more time for thought, more time to type things, and we can at least not blurt out abuse unless we really intend to write it down. If there are changes that need to be suggested, we could do it here instead. Take out the formality of the Roundtable, but divide our issues into separate threads depending on what they are. Thoughts?

For now, that might be the best option, especially if we want our discussion topics to be open to as many editors as possible. The low attendance at Roundtables is very nearly unavoidable, considering everyone's RL business, but forums can be bumped as many times as we want (within reason).
