Recently because of an upcoming edit conflict, I've decided to bring this up.

The site appears to cite only comparisons from Final Fantasy VII when it comes to the characters, yet it appears that references made to characters to said FF game are left alone despite not being confirmed at all aside from Axel, but removing the references to characters from previous games despite it being painfully obvious. For example, some may see Riku to be based on Sephiroth, but he is actually more akin to Cecil Harvey from Final Fantasy IV due to their fighting style, powers, appearance and laterality. It's also worth mentioning that not only do they have a brother/brother-like figure but both of their powers developed in the same way, relying on the dark first but then turning to the light.

Another is the recently revealed Erauqs character. Not a lot or no one seems to be aware of his resemblance to the Final Fantasy VI character, Cyan Garamonde. Not only are their physical (body) appearances are identical, but appear to be akin to that of a Samurai, not to mention their acknowledged status as great warriors.

So why? Kaihedgie 17:59, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Well for one, it's Nomura we're talking about. His characters are more likely to be based on his characters.
However, we shouldn't be stating "so and so is like so and so" just from our own opinion. Only the facts are valid - so if Nomura says "So and so is basically a KH version of so and so", or we can show that "So and so has the same voice actor as Final Fantasy's so and so", we can do that. But "So and so reminds me of this other so and so kind of, I mean, if you look at just this and ignore just that, and really, the colors are just beautiful man," is not so kosher. As per your suggestion, I have removed those speculatory ones that I could find.Glorious CHAOS! 18:05, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

As you may have not noticed, not only did Nomura insert characters from VI and IX, where he wasn't the character designer, but he also redesigned the main characters for Dissidia, whom is more than half was originally done by Amano. We shouldn't need to rely on a confirmation bias, it's RIGHT THERE in front of your eyes. Kaihedgie 18:09, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

..."His characters are '''''more likely''''' to be based on his characters."
And we certainly should rely on confirmation bias for matters like these. The very fact that you disagree with someone over who Riku is based on is perfect evidence for that.Glorious CHAOS! 18:38, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

No, it just pretty much tells me you don't know all that much about Final Fantasy, especially games before VII. Confirmation bias maybe dandy and all, but it's quite irritating to say that 'Oh hey look we need confirmation from Nomura that this character is totally just like that guy from Final Fantasy Whatever even though he looks almost exactly the same.' Really now. No offense, but you can be real hard-headed at times. Kaihedgie 18:43, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
