TALK -
Okay, seriously guys. I've had to edit as an IP several times in the last week, and nearly every time I've made an edit, it's been reverted, even though I provide edit comments. When I redo the edits logged in, no one says anything.

I don't know if it's that the wiki has a habit of reverting IPs, or if it has a habit of letting me do whatever I want, but one of these is wrong.

If it's that you guys are afraid to criticize me, don't be. Criticize me all day long if you think I'm wrong. But if it's the other, then you guys need to pay more attention to the IP edits.

Personally, I only undo non constructive or misinformed edits, or edits that appear as such to me. --Evnyofdeath 03:09, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

TALK - That may be... however, what other choice might we have had?
Interdiction KHD.png I think its more that frequent editors of the wiki are just more inclined to revert IP edits. We associate them with vandals, which isn't fair, but I don't know if there's any way to change that. Its really more of a subconscious thing, and if you've fallen into that habit, you'll only catch yourself if you always think about it, which I try to do. We should always be able to provide a reason -preferably one in line with the MoS or general policy - for reverting any edit, whether they come from IPs or not. If we can't, the edit probably shouldn't be reverted.

Isa_bbs.png I'm only speaking for myself, but I always check and see what the edit did before I even think about reverting anything. But yeah, I agree, this is a problem. I'm pretty sure this kind of issue happened with NeutraVega and NinjaShiek a while ago, not pointing any names or fingers, just saying that this is a frequent problem that needs to get fixed.

TALK - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Vanitas Sprite KHBBS.pngbelive me, Kryten, I have no problem criticizing when it needs done. I try to only undo edits that are dead wrong, poorly done, or flat-out vandalism. If people are undoing IP edits because they're IP edits or if they're not undoing yours because they're your edits, then you're right we have an issue here

If I'm ever dealing with IPs, I always check the edit before I undo it. That being said, I always try to give benefit of the doubt. If I'm certain that the edit was misinformed or wrong, I undo it. If I even have a shadow of a doubt, I leave it be, and of course, if it's right, I'll leave it.

I'm more or less the same. If I'm really not sure about an edit, I'll let it be and see how other editors react to it--although maybe that's not the right approach. Otherwise, if it looks good I leave it; if it doesn't, I edit/revert it.

Indeed, editors should always, always check the content of the edit before deleting or reverting. If the edit is constructive, it should be left, regardless of who posted it. The whole point of this place is anyone can edit, including those who do not have registered accounts.

However, if it is obvious trolling or inappropriate ("Sora rulez!"), then it's fine to remove it. If it keeps happening, alert a staffer to help keep an eye on the situation in case blocking or banning is needed.

If this is a big issue, then we should address it, correct?

It's an issue every wiki has: anonymous edits being frowned upon. It is always important to practice good faith when it comes to anonymous users. BK points it out really well.
