 Darkness creates and feeds off of primal emotions such as revenge, hate, and greed, making those it effects experience and exhibit these feelings while constantly making those feelings stronger, eventually leading to the effected becoming a Heartless.  Darkness can also change the physical appearance of those it effects, up to such extremes as a normal person becoming a [[Shadow]] and [[Riku]] taking on the form of [[Xehanort's Heartless]].
-It is possible that when a person becomes completely overtaken by Darkness their appearance changes, giving them the so called “Yellow eyes”. An example is Anakin Skywalker in star wars III: the revenge of the Sith, in which at a certain point while leading a massacre on the Jedi, Anakin turns to the camera reveling that his eyes are glowing with a sick yellow glow.
-It should be noted that Heartlesses also has yellow eyes. Xehanort´s Heartless has yellow eyes, why Xemnas has it is unkown.
