The bearers of these hearts are known as "Princesses of Heart," because they are always female, for reasons unknown. Because they are needed to access Kingdom Hearts, the Princesses of Heart were sought by beings of the darkness who wished to rule the Heart of all Worlds, particularly Maleficent and Xehanort's Heartless. Kingdom Hearts could only be accessed by the completion of a Keyhole in Hollow Bastion, which required all seven pure hearts to be joined as one in the Keyblade of Peoples' Hearts. These hearts were released, however, due to Sora keeping Kingdom Hearts out of the villains' reach.

-it appears that it is possible to creat artifital hearts. in hallow ween town Doctor Finkelstein and jack skellington where working on an artifal heart. they wanted to us it to creat an a guidents system to quordinate the heartless for there halloween selibration. they desided they need a heart to complete it. so finklstein sets out to make one they start with a heart like heart-like container the first atempt was unsecsess full. so Sora, Donald, and Goofy  help them geath so extra ingredients. including memory" from Sally, who asks Jack in vain to reconsider using the Heartless. how ever befor they get a chance to us it it was stolen by stolen by Lock, Shock and Barrel. who take in to Oogie's Manor. oogie order it stolen so he could control the heartles. he couldn't controll them on his own because he had no heart. so he swallows the heart wich intergrates in to his systemalowing him to controw heartless. however because it was only an artifal heart the heartless don't responed to it very well only a handful of weak ones show up. showing thaw an artifal heart is possible it lacks many of the ability of a real heart and is of lower quity has shown by the heartless lack of intrest.

-When a particularly strong heart is turned into a Heartless, the body it leaves behind begins to act of its own accord due to the strong will it possesses. This being is called a Nobody, a being which does not truly exist due to the lack of a heart. Depending on the strength of the heart, the body may or may not be warped into strange shapes or metalic colors. Members of Organization XIII all possessed remarkably strong hearts, causing their Nobodies to retain a human appearance; there were some subtle differences in their apperances compared to when they were human. Due to a lack of a heart, however, a Nobody cannot truly feel emotions and in Organization XIII's case they pretend to in order to achieve their ends, that being to finally be whole again by obtaining a heart. Also, if a Nobody, such as the members of the Organization, experience something that is greatly emotional, they could grow new hearts in place of the ones they lost. However, if they do not learn of this, it is much more unlikely that they can; Xemnas and Xigbar knew this, but lied to the rest of the Organization to fullfill their part of Master Xehanort's plan. Unlike the Heartless, Nobodies can think and plan, rather than rely on instincts, which makes them highly more dangerous than the former.

The body of a Nobody may be warped to a degree from its original form, depending on the strength of its heart. Members of Organization XIII all possessed remarkably strong hearts, allowing their Nobodies to retain their human appearance with only minor changes. Due to a lack of a heart, a Nobody cannot truly feel emotions; many members of Organization XIII often pretend that they can, following their memories of their human selves. The weaker Nobodies lose their sense of self, are made subservient to the Organization, and can even be modified beyond their original forms.
 Although Nobodies are born as empty shells, they are capable of developing hearts of their own over time. Additionally, the shells can be implanted with the heart of another, becoming a vessel for that heart.
