After the Keyblade War, Jafar the royal visor of Agrabah wanted the power of the genie's lamp in the fabled Cave of Wonders so he could be all powerful. To find the cave's location he found a half of the Golden Scarab but had no luck finding the other half. Until he meets Player who sought their help in finding it in exchange Player would him retrieve the lamp and when the keyblade wielder retrieved the jewel's other half the trail led to the fabled cave however hearing that the cave would only allow "the diamond in the ruff" to enter and seeing that the keyblade wielder wasn't the one Jafar sought someone else. Heading to a secret area in the palace he used a magical device to discover that Aladdin is the one who can enter the cave and commenced the guards to find him. Once Aladdin was tossed in prison Jafar disguised himself as a beggar and convinced him to help seek out treasure from the Cave of Wonders returning to the cave he was shocked by Player's arrival and yet pushed the pair to continue. | |||
Seeing the cave collapse and Aladdin asking for help Jafar didn't intend to not before being given the lamp after the exchange had been done he attempted to backstab Aladdin but was stopped by Abu. Despite seeing the pair become buried with cave, Jafar reveled in finally having the lamp only to discover that he lost it crestfallen he returned to the palace only to be battered by the Sultan for his actions and apologized for it. When Princess Jasmine and her father leave Jafar is still angry that he couldn't the lamp and aware of Jasmine's status was worried if she married a suitor then they'd be banished. And yet relished in Iago's idea about coming sultan by marrying the princess. At first, Jafar used his staff to hypnotize the Sultan into having Jasmine marrying him but he was stopped by Aladdin who was under the disguise of prince Ali knowing something wasn't right about him he tried to convince the Jasmine's father otherwise but failed to do so.
