List of Keyblade wielders: Difference between revisions

Theoretically, since Sora could not damage Heartless without the Keyblade, and it's said in Traverse Town in the first game that the Keyblade is the weapon that destroys heartless, that should mean that no one except keyblade wielders should be able to destroy Heartless. But its very obvious that fellow party members and other characters can. A possible explanation for this is that without the Keyblade, Sora was not strong enough to even damage the Heartless. Another possability is that the power of the Keyblade is channeled through any hearts aligned with sora, allowing his party members to wield a small part of it's strength. This theory seems to be lent a little more weight by the fact that before meeting Sora, Donald and Goofy were unable to defeat a pair of small heartless but as soon as they allied with the Keyblade master they were instrumental in the defeat of a rather large heartless. Another mistake is the fact that the Keyblade is supposed to be the only weapon that can release hearts when defeating the Heartless, though it is shown that other people can release the hearts. Besides party members being able to release hearts in battle, [[Sephiroth]] and [[Leon]] are shown to do that in cutscenes. Then again, what they mean by "destroy the Heartless" could have a less literal definition, as they might've just meant that the Keyblade was the only weapon capable of bringing permanent extinction to the Heartless, given its unique ability to seal dimensions and worlds.Also while in Hollow Bastion in the first game after Riku takes the Keyblade from Sora, he is given the toy sword used on Destiny Islands. Until you reach the boss fight with Riku you are stuck using this weapon with Beast for a partner and although it does hardly anything you can technically kill a Heartless while weilding the toy sword, which goes against what happens on Destiny Islands durring the storm. The explanation to this is that Sora's heart could have been so attuned to the keyblade that it allowed Sora to do at least minimal damage. Another thing to bring up is actually right at the start of Kingdom Hearts when Sora is to choose a weapon the options are a shield, a staff, and a sword. None of these are Keyblades (obviously) and therefore should not be able to harm the Heartless and yet Sora even goes through a whole boss fight with these weapons!...Of course, that could be because they're part of a trial to awaken the ability to use the Keyblade; perhaps, they represent different aspects of Sora's and the Keyblade's abilities.
