Mechanics[edit]

The objective of this mini-game is to open the cell and free Mickey. The "CONTROLLER" buttons can be used to move Sora around, and the "ACTION" button to pull the switchs, or hide.

Each stage can consist of multiple screens, with one or more switches. Walls are placed between the squares, and guards patrol, while carrying flashlights. The flashlights have a range of two squares. When Sora enters the flashlight, the guard will spot him and start chasing him for 3-4 squares before returning to his standard route. Moving to another screen will stop the guard's chase.

By holding the "ACTION" button, Sora can lay low to avoid the flashlight. However, if a guard reaches the same square as Sora, he will still be caught.

Once Sora has pulled all the switches in a stage, the cell will open. When Sora reaches the cell, the stage is cleared, and the next stage starts.

Certain stages feature Pete as a guard. Unlike regular guards, Pete carries two flashlights, and if Sora is spotted by Pete, all guards will chase him.

If Sora is caught by a guard, he loses a life. Once all lifes are gone, the game ends.

Origin[edit]

Mickey's Prison Escape is based on the "The Chain Gang" Mickey Mouse short from 1930. In the short, Mickey is in prison. Eventually, he escapes, only to end up back in his prison cell.
