 The Dark Follower's name is a clear reference to its dark color and its ability to attack using darkness. The latter part of its name could be a reference to the fact that it appears after a battle with other Heartless. "Follower" could also be a reference to the purple Shadow "followers" the Heartless summons.
-If defeated by Riku,Sora,Mickey,or Xion in mission mode 100 times,it will become the Dark Destroyer,unknown by many.This Heartless is suspected to be a Nobody,since it's counterparts have odd colors,Darkside is purple,Dark Follower is red and Dark Destroyer is white.Dark follower is also known to summon more powerful Shadows,ranging fom Megshadow to Novashadow,depending on how long it has lived.
