But until Nomura says ANYTHING about either of the remakes or the 2nd volume, we're pretty much stuck. We'll just have to wait...this is why I hate the period of time after a game is released, you don't get to hear anything new for a couple of months, and the year is still not over yet. :(}}

Small spoilers ahead if you haven't finished 3D yet.

Anyway, I beat the game today and managed to unlock the "Secret Message" during the credits. I went to the glossary to read it, and it goes as follows:

"The past will be reawakened as a new number in never-before-seen detail.

Prepare yourself for the awakening of the next number."

At first I didn't get it at all, and thought maybe it was a reference to the Secret Ending that I had yet to unlock. Then I realized that it is definitely hinting at an upcoming HD collection - "never-before-seen detail" kind of gives that away.

So yeah, this pretty much all-but confirms that an HD rerelease is on the horizon, and I'd say the second part is probably talking about KHIII. It's not confirmed information, so we can't really put any of it on the wiki, but it's cool either way.

WHOA, hold your gummis there, Light! That seems to be reading too much between the lines. A phrase like "never-before-seen detail" is a bit to vague to label it as a confirmation for an HD collection. I know Nomura has expressed interest in doing an HD collection, but he hasn't necessarily said anything else about that, let alone a confirmation. We could speculate a lot of things about this message. For me, it sounds like rather than a game announcement, it's hinting at the unveiling of the new Thirteenth Member of the True Organization XIII. "Prepare yourself for the awakening of the next number." That's a bit more obvious in my opinion, but I could be wrong. I would love to see the HD collection as much as you do, but I doubt it's going to be the next thing in the series (but if it is, then you can be the first to tell me "I told ya so", because I would totally deserve that ^^), but I wouldn't be surprised if they announced and/or released them for a landmark anniversary like the series's 13th or 15th birthday. TALK - "My antiques!"
While you could be right, my reasoning has to do with what it sounds like when you go through it piece by piece.

"The past..."

  • Past games in the series, perhaps?

"...will be reawakened..."

  • As in, seen again?

"...in never-before-seen detail!"

  • Released in HD?

Honestly, not sure about the second part at the moment, that could be something completely different. Nomura has said time and again, though, that he wants to make it easier for more people to enter into the series. Although with Nomura's history, I guess I wouldn't be shocked if this was about a tea party. And you definitely raise good points, AROS. Still, I feel like it's pretty clear.

It does make a lot of sense, I'm just saying that that might not be the only thing it means. When it comes to these things, I like to think in terms of the plot and story first, rather than the franchise itself. For instance, "The past will be awakened...". The people connected to Sora's heart come from his past or the past in general, so the idea of them being awakened probably has to do with the fact that he has to "awaken" them from "sorrow and slumber". However "...never-before-seen detail!" kind of throws me off in that theory, so it supports the remake theory more.
