Journals are recurring mechanisms in the Kingdom Hearts series. While some other games use Jiminy's Journal to record data about characters, enemies, treasures etc, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded have other means of recording data.

In the Reverse/Rebirth storyline, data is recorded in the D-Report; the "D" stands for "Darkness". Template:Section-stub

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
Roxas's Enemy Files contains descriptions and pictures of the various enemies, along with a list of the treasures they drop when defeated. Template:Section-stub
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
Aqua, Ventus and Terra each have an individual Journal which records the events of their storylines.
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
The Debug Reports consist of five sections covering various facets of the game, along with a record of the level of completion for each section.
- Trophies shows achieved trophies and progress to achieving trophies.
- Collection shows all Commands, Keyblades and Accessories.
- Story summarises the events in each World.
- Enemy Profiles shows details for all enemies, including descriptions, drops and how many times an enemy has been defeated.
- Character Files contains short biographies for each character.
