The '''Stat Matrix''' handles Sora's level growth and abilities. Similar to Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid, you progress on a line of circuitry within the matrix, whose paths are segmented into blocks. Throughout Sora's quest, he'll receive panels like Strength Ups or Magic Ups that can be placed in those blocks, amplifying the applicable stats, and progressing further through the matrix. At each level up, you will also gain a Level Up panel, similar to Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, that will grant Sora a boost to all his stats. Scattered all throughout the matrix are ability panels, which when the line of active circuitry connects to one, you will gain abilities like Scan, Combo Plus, and Dodge Roll.It should be noted that any panels placed onto the matrix cannot be removed but can be replaced with another chips, yet, as long as an empty circuit is lit up, you can place a panel in it, even it's not a part of the previously expanded circuitry path.

==Unlocking command and accesory slots==
Chips are powered by '''CPUs''' that appear throughout of the matrix. Chips must be installed first next to a CPU and then building outwards from it. If two CPUs are linked by a path of chips, it activates '''Dual-processing''', which doubles the effects of the chips in the connecting path. While chips cannot be uninstalled, they can be replaced with other available chips.
Extra slots for the player's Command deck and accesories are also acquired through the Stat Matrix. In order to unlock a new slot, the player must connect chips to both wires leading to the command/accesory slot.

==Expanding the Stat Matrix==
The Stat Matrix begins with only a small area available, but each chapter that is completed in the story unlocks a new area, with its own CPU.
As you progress through the game, the matrix will expand, offering branching paths of circuitry to follow sometimes with beneficial abilities at their ends. Expansions usually occur at the beginning of new chapters, with the last part opening up after clearing the game.

==Cheats==
Scattered throughout the matrix are a number of features that unlock new capabilities for Sora. These include {{nihongo|'''Bonus Boosters'''|ボーナスブースター|Bōnasu Būsutā}}, '''Command Expansions''' and '''Accessory Expansions'''<!--nihongo?-->, and {{nihongo|'''Cheat Tuners'''<!--is "tuner" part of the english name?-->|チートチューナー|Chīto Chūnā}}.
There are 5 tuners, called "cheats" on the stat matrix. They influence the balance of the game, though they're not to be confused with actual cheats, since they don't destroy any challenge in the game.

The five cheats are:

- The Difficulty cheat, which allows the player to change the difficulty level: the 4 difficulties are Beginner, Standard, Proud and Critical. Each difficulty level offers different drops from the enemies. 2 trophies are also awarded for completing every world on proud and critical, respectively.
==Bonus Boosters==
- The Loot cheat, which increases the drop rate of items, but decreases Sora's HP. The maximal drop rate is 16x, which sets Sora's HP at 10% of the original.
{{main|Abilities (Kingdom Hearts Re:coded)}}
- The Prize cheat, which increases the drop rate of prizes (HP and Munny, but not SP and score prizes), and also increases enemies' Strength, the two values being the same (e.g. 2x enemy STR with 2x prize amount), save for the 0x prizes, which sets enemy STR to 0.8x
Bonus Boosters unlock [[abilities]] when linked to a CPU through chips. Most of them can be switched on or off once they have been activated, with the exception of [[Scan]]. There are a total of twenty seven Bonus Boosters in the Stat Matrix, but some abilities are activated through multiple boosters. If more than one booster for an ability is switched on, the ability will be leveled up.
- The CP cheat, which increases CP (used to power up deck commands), but lowers received EXP.
- The HP cheat, which lowers both Sora's and the enemies' HP. Setting it to 0% sets everyone's HP to 1. A trophy is awarded for completing all worlds with the HP1 status.

The Stat Matrix with various chips

The Stat Matrix (ステータスマトリックス Sutētasu Matorikkusu?, lit. "Status Matrix") handles Sora's stat growth and abilities in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Similar to Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid, you progress on a line of circuitry within the matrix, which is segmented into slots. Throughout Sora's quest, he'll receive Stat Chips (ステータスチップ Sutētasu Chippu?, lit. "Status Chips") that can be placed in these slots, raising the appropriate stats and progressing further through the matrix. When Sora levels up, he receives Level Up chips, that will grant Sora a boost to all of his basic stats.

Chips are powered by CPUs that appear throughout of the matrix. Chips must be installed first next to a CPU and then building outwards from it. If two CPUs are linked by a path of chips, it activates Dual-processing, which doubles the effects of the chips in the connecting path. While chips cannot be uninstalled, they can be replaced with other available chips.

The Stat Matrix begins with only a small area available, but each chapter that is completed in the story unlocks a new area, with its own CPU.

Scattered throughout the matrix are a number of features that unlock new capabilities for Sora. These include Bonus Boosters (ボーナスブースター Bōnasu Būsutā?), Command Expansions and Accessory Expansions, and Cheat Tuners (チートチューナー Chīto Chūnā?).

Bonus Boosters

Bonus Boosters unlock abilities when linked to a CPU through chips. Most of them can be switched on or off once they have been activated, with the exception of Scan. There are a total of twenty seven Bonus Boosters in the Stat Matrix, but some abilities are activated through multiple boosters. If more than one booster for an ability is switched on, the ability will be leveled up.

Command Expansions and Accessory Expansions

Command Expansions increase the number of commands that can be equipped in the Command Matrix, and Accessory Expansions increase the number of accessories that can be equipped in the Gear Matrix. Each expansion activates after chips have been linked to both of its connectors.

There are a total of five Command Expansions and three Accessory Expansions in the Stat Matrix.

Cheat Tuners

Five different tuners appear in the Stat Matrix. Once they have been linked to a CPU through a path of chips, they can be activated to affect different aspects of gameplay. Using cheats generally has both positive and negative effects.

Some trophies can be obtained by setting the Cheat Tuners to their more difficult settings.
