So I decided to edit this page (it was before I created my account, so I'm not listed as the contributor, but whatever). The reason I decided to edit it is because it made no sense based on the information in the games. This is what I have concluded from playing the games:

(Spoiler Warning!!!)

I've been all over the net about Kingdom Hearts and Keyblades and everyone seems totally lost and confused about this subject--but I don't see why. As of KH II there are 4--FOUR known wielders:

Sora, Riku, Kairi and Mickey (Roxas DOESN'T COUNT, he can only wield because he is Sora's Nobody--period. His Keyblades are merely shadows/memories of the real one Sora wields, which is why they retain the same forms).

There are four known realms: Light, Darkness, Twilight and Nothingness (which has yet to appear in-game).

Sora = Light (Kingdom Key)
Mickey = Darkness (Darkside)
Riku = Twilight (Way to Dawn)
Kairi = Nothingness (unknown name)

"Why does Kairi wield the Keyblade of Nothingness?" you may ask... Well, consider what we know about the Realm of Nothingness. DiZ spent time there and spoke about it. What did it take to survive there? He had to "remember his past". When does Kairi receive her Keyblade from Riku? Shortly after she "remembers her past". Why is everyone so confused about this?

Before people start asking goofy questions, let me answer a few up front:

1) The "keyblade" Riku used in KH I was not a real keyblade (the red and black Oblivion blade). It had no keychain. Riku did not recieve his true Keyblade until some time during KH II (the first battle with him in The Land of Dragons, he still had his Soul Eater sword). Riku and Sora battled for control of the Kingdom Key during KH I, but Riku lost since Sora's heart was "stronger" (i.e., more Light oriented).

2) Roxas wields Kingdom Key, Oathkeeper and Oblivion because of the symbolism. Kingdom Key represents the memory of his true self (Sora), Oathkeeper represents the memory of Kairi, and Oblivion represents the memory of Riku. They are Sora's closest friends, and therefore, his strongest memories.

3) Mickey wield's Darkside because he has a strong heart that remains uncorrupted, even in Darkness.

As for why Riku had Kairi's Keyblade in the first place? I can only speculate. Perhaps that Keyblade belonged to DiZ, and he gave it to Riku to pass on to Kairi. I don't know. It's the only question about this particular subject, so far as I can tell, that is still unanswered at this point.

Anyway, if that doesn't mostly clear it up for you, then I don't know what to tell you. Pay more attention to the games, I guess. I know they are kind of confusing at times, but they provide all the necessary information to piece it together if you actually pay attention.

Actually the Dark Keyblade, the one created by the hearts of six of the princesses of heart, is an unfinished keyblade. Itlacked Kairi's heart therefore laked a keychain

Nomura has said in the Director's Report that Kairi and Riku's Keyblades are the same nature (Light realm) as Sora's. So, this whole thing doesn't work. He goes on to explain that there's only two types of realm for the keyblade - light and darkness, for the two sides of a door.Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 10:01, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Realm of In-Between = Realm of Nothingness

" The Realm of the Present...The Realm of darkness. The Realm of light.
   And, The Realm of in-between. "

"An existence neither of darkness nor of light. An in-between existence. Cast off by the heart, a mere shell, one who begrudges both the darkness and the light." " It appears my other five apprentices, believing it was for the sake of research, stared deep into the darkness and were pulled into it.

   Even, Ienzo, Braig, Dilan, and Aeleus...
   They have ceased to be human.
   I, too, have had everything taken away from me, banished to a hollow realm of nothingness. "

"With this new power, I uncovered a "corridor of darkness" that connects the realm of nothingness to the outside world. While it is still difficult to come and go as I please, my banishment is now a thing of the past." "This "realm between" is quite unstable, with corridors of darkness appearing from time to time."

The Realm of In-Between and the Realm of Nothingness seem to be two terms for the same thing - the place between darkness and light, which is connected to the outside world by corridors of darkness. Then you have Xemnas' speech, which basically claims that Nothingness is between Light and Darkness. Finally, the term "Realm of In-Between" comes from the Final Mix, and so is only a translation.

I would also think that because "Realm of the present" and "Realm of the Light" are not the same thing, that the Disney worlds might not be in the realm of the light. Then again, the whole thing's kind of messed up. It might work if it meant "realm of Twilight", not "Realm of Light", but those use completely different kanji.

Wouldn't the "realm of the present" that was mentioned in the final mix report be the realm of darkness?Since that's where Xeanort ended up after becoming a heartless.--74.210.24.180 04:34, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Because he goes on to list it, I would suggest not. I'd like to get a crack at the original Japanese to get a literal translation, though.Glorious CHAOS! 16:22, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
