They demand a gate to pass out of the data world, which Ephemer refuses. While preparing for a fight, Ephemer tells Player to take a lifeboat and escape. They somehow sensed or felt that the newborn baby [[Xehanort]] was the great-great-grandson of Ephemer, along with believing that Xehanort could be the fabled "Child of Destiny" for safety reasons Player fled with him to Destiny Islands where the Darkness couldn't find him. While caring for the boy Player would constantly tell him stories about his linage and most importantly about the day he would leave the island.
