The Dream Rod is a weapon which appears in Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. It appears within both Sora, Roxas, and Data-Sora's Dive to the Heart, alongside the Dream Shield and Dream Sword. These three weapons represent the paths that Sora and Roxas can take — the path of the warrior, the guardian, or the mystic. As the weapon of the mystic, the Dream Rod focuses on MP and avoids AP, and if Sora or Roxas choose it, they will learn their magical abilities at lower levels. Data-Sora will gain a Fire command if he chooses the Dream Rod, and a Rising Strike command if he gives it up.

If Sora chooses the Dream Rod in Kingdom Hearts, he will use it as a weapon throughout his Dive to the Heart. Like the Dream Sword and Dream Shield it will disappear at the end of the dream. In contrast, if Roxas or Data-Sora chooses the Dream Rod in Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, it will immediately transform into his Kingdom Key.
Appearances
In Kingdom Hearts, after obtaining each of the seven third-level spells, Merlin will reward Donald's progress with the Dream Rod. Donald can also equip this staff within Mission Mode in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
Kingdom Hearts
The Dream Rod is one of the Disney-themed weapons that appears in Kingdom Hearts.  Sora obtains the Dream Rod in the Awakening; but only if the player so chooses.  The player may choose to use the Dream Rod, to ignore it, or to discard it.  If they accept to use the Dream Rod, then Sora's stats will focus on Magic.  If he discards it, then Magic will be the least focused stat.  If he ignores it, then Magic will grow normally.  If Sora takes the Dream Rod, he loses it upon leaving the Awakening.  Sora battles with the Dream Rod in the same way as Donald does with his staff.

Design
Kingdom Hearts II
Both ends of the Dream Rod's handle are tan, while the handle itself is predominantly green. There is a wide, brown disk on the tip of the handle, which the head of the staff is connected to. The staff's head is a blue Hidden Mickey.
The Dream Rod made a cameo appearance in Kingdom Hearts II, along with other elements from the Awakening that Roxas found in the Station of Awakening. Like Sora, the player may choose to accept the rod or not.  However, it turns into the Keyblade if taken.

Gameplay
Stats
Having the Zero Gear equipped in Mission Mode while playing as Donald in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days will grant the player the ability to wield the Dream Staff. Donald holds the weapon about a hands height above the bottom of the hilt. The ground combo for the weapon begins with Donald taking a step forward and swinging the staff downward followed by a horizontal slash to the left, a horizontal slash to the right, and finishes with another horizontal slash to the left. The aerial combo consists of a vertical upward slash and is followed by the same three slashes as the ground combo.
Only for Donald in Kingdom Hearts
*Attack: 8
*Strength: +7
*MP: +2
*Obtained: Achieve the highest level for all spells, then talk to Merlin.

Trivia
*One of the Struggle weapons in Kingdom Hearts II has an uncanny resemblance to the Dream Rod.
*In Sora's Awakening, the Dream Rod is identified as "a staff of wonder and ruin".
Also, it is a staff with power of dream's, in whitch it was named the dream rod
